Cooper (6-0, 220, Philadelphia, PA) rejoins San Diego after being acquired via a trade in June with the Vegas Knighhawks. He started the 2023 season with the Duke City Gladiators.
In six games with the Strike Force last season, Byron recorded 18.5 total tackles (13 solo), three tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, a blocked kick, and a safety. Prior to San Diego, he saw action in two games while in Vegas and recorded five tackles, one sack, and a pass breakup. In his two games with Duke City to start the year, he recorded 12 total tackles in two games along with 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
In 2022 with the Duke City Gladiators, Cooper appeared in 15 games and was second on the team with 71.5 total tackles (46 solo, 17.5 tackles for loss) while adding eight sacks, three pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, and one safety.
Cooper has over six years of indoor football experience, which started with the Amarillo Venom of the Champions Indoor Football League in 2018. He was later signed by the Duke City Gladiators in 2021. He played his collegiate career at West Chester University in Pennsylvania.
