Biography

Marques “Hoodie” Rodgers (5-10, 180, Western New Mexico) rejoined the Strike Force with veteran IFL status in Week 7 of the 2024 season. Last season he was second on the team in receptions (63), receiving yards (760), and third in receiving touchdowns (14) as a part of the three-headed monster receiving core that caught passes from Nate Davis. Hoodie also added 18 kick returns for 295 yards and 34 rushing yards.

In 2022 with the Strike Force, Hoodie played in 15 games and rushed 29 times for 152 yards and seven touchdowns (tied for team-high). He also led the team in receptions (54), receiving yards (607) and receiving touchdowns (11) while adding 18 kick returns for 216 yards.

While San Diego took the 2021 IFL season off, Marques played 11 games with the Frisco Fighters and recorded 23 rushes for 103 yards and a touchdown while adding 29 receptions for 294 yards and six scores through the air. He also led the team in kick returns on the season, fielding 44 for 712 yards and one touchdown.

Before the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID, Marques played in San Diego’s season opener and recorded three receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. He also added three kick returns for 66 yards and returned one kick for a touchdown in that opening win over Bismarck.

As a member of the Strike Force in 2019, Hoodie etched his name in the league record books after he racked up 2,229 all-purpose yards on the season (third-most all-time in a single season). In addition to being named the IFL Special Teams Player of the Year in 2019, Marques received First Team All-IFL honors as a kick returner and a 2nd Team mention as a receiver. He led the Strike Force with 70 receptions for 783 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 124 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Prior to San Diego, Marques played in five games with the Sioux Falls Storm in 2018. During his collegiate career at Western New Mexico University, where he was a running back by trade, Rodgers earned RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year honors in 2014 after he recorded 1,296 rushing yards on 229 carries with six touchdowns. He was also named Second-Team Offense as he added 28 receptions for 310 yards and three scores. In his sophomore season in 2015, Marques rushed for 1,283 yards on 217 carries with 10 touchdowns and added 61 receptions for 638 yards and four touchdowns.

Marques is originally from Gardena, California and played at Serra High School.
